Twenty hydrangea heads is a genuinely large arrangement — this is one of the biggest things we send by volume, and it needs a wide, heavy vase rather than a tall one. Mist the heads and keep it out of direct sun and away from a heating vent, and it holds five to seven days.

20 stems suits a standard cylinder vase. Trim a little off the stems every couple of days as you change the water and it will hold its shape longer.

Caring for hydrangeas

Hydrangeas drink through their petals as well as their stems, so a light mist of water on the heads keeps them firm. If a head wilts, submerge the whole flower in cool water for twenty minutes and it usually comes back. Re-cut the thick stems at a steep angle so they can take up water. Five to seven days indoors.
