About this bouquet

Six pink and nine green garden roses, seven pink carnations and five alstroemeria. Green roses are unusual enough that people ask about them, and the green here is a flower colour rather than foliage. The alstroemeria will outlast everything else in the bouquet by a week, so pull the spent stems and it keeps looking deliberate.

Who this one suits

For a birthday it reads as celebratory rather than romantic, which makes it safe for a friend, a parent or a colleague as much as a partner.

For a promotion, a new home or a graduation it is upright and cheerful, and it survives being carried across an office or handed over at a ceremony.

Caring for garden roses

Garden roses carry many more petals than a standard rose and open into a full cup over two to three days. That is when they look their best. Re-cut the stems at an angle before they go in water, strip any leaves that would sit below the waterline, and change the water every other day. Expect five to seven good days — a little shorter than standard roses, in exchange for a fuller flower.

Caring for carnations

Carnations are the longest-lasting flower we sell — ten to fourteen days with the water changed. Re-cut the stems above a node rather than through one, keep them out of direct sun, and they will outlive everything else on the table.
